Summer is the season for watermelons! Their sweetness and juiciness help satisfy our sweet tooth in a refreshing way, and also helps keep us hydrated. But most of us discard the rind after nomming on the red watermelon flesh. Don’t throw it away! In this video, we teach you how to make a delicious dessert out of the rind.

Our recipe is extremely simple, requiring very few ingredients. If you don’t have the spices, you can use just the rind and some sugar. The crystallized sugar syrup give the soft rinds a very unique texture, making this an absolutely scrumptious treat!

This Candied Watermelon Rind can also be kept in the refrigerator for many months as the sugar acts as a preservative. So you can enjoy these for a very long time, way past summer!
